Purpose
Evolrix AI is an AI system for synthetic-biology research. Because it can assist in designing biological sequences, it can be misused. This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") states what Evolrix AI may and may not be used for. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms.
Permitted use
You may use Evolrix AI for lawful, legitimate research and R&D purposes, including:
- Designing coding sequences, signal peptides, and constructs for expression in supported hosts (currently Pichia pastoris);
- Codon and sequence optimization, secretion design, and in-silico feasibility assessment;
- Academic, industrial, and educational synthetic-biology research that complies with applicable law and biosafety norms.
Prohibited use
You may not use Evolrix AI, directly or indirectly, to:
- Design, optimize, or assist in producing any biological material, sequence, or organism intended or reasonably likely to cause harm to humans, animals, plants, or the environment;
- Design, optimize, or produce any pathogen, toxin, or biological weapon, or components thereof whose primary purpose is to cause disease or harm;
- Enhance the transmissibility, virulence, or resistance of any harmful agent;
- Evade or undermine biosecurity screening (including sequence-screening of synthesis orders), or produce sequences designed to evade such controls;
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation, including export-control, biosafety, and dual-use research regulations;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or misuse our models, tools, or proprietary data beyond the scope of the Service;
- Use the Service to infringe any third-party intellectual-property right.
Biosecurity & dual-use
Biological research carries dual-use risk. Even legitimate research outputs can be misused. You are responsible for assessing the dual-use implications of any design you create or act on, and for complying with your institution's and jurisdiction's biosafety and dual-use research-of-concern (DURC) review processes.
Evolrix AI outputs are research inputs, not validated for production. Before ordering synthesis, conducting experiments, or transferring any biological material, you are responsible for:
- Conducting appropriate sequence- and biosecurity-screening;
- Obtaining all required institutional, regulatory, and ethical approvals;
- Complying with export-control laws applicable to biological materials, technology, and software.
Your duties
- Use the Service only within the scope of the access granted to you; do not share access with unauthorized parties.
- Maintain the accuracy and lawfulness of any input you provide.
- Apply professional judgment: Evolrix AI outputs are computational and in-silico; you must validate them before any experimental or production use (see Terms, Section 3).
Enforcement
Violation of this Policy is a violation of our Terms. We may suspend or terminate access, disable outputs, and take any other action we deem appropriate — without notice — if we believe, in our sole discretion, that you have violated this Policy, any law, or that any use poses a biosecurity or safety risk. We may also cooperate with law-enforcement and regulatory authorities where required.
Reporting concerns
If you become aware of misuse of Evolrix AI, a potential biosecurity concern, or a vulnerability, please report it promptly to lei@bluex.net.cn. We take all such reports seriously.
